Since 1991, the TARUD school has served pre-school children from the village of Gunjur in the southern region of The Gambia, just north of its border with Senegal. Supported by the TARUD Foundation, it relies heavily on the generosity of the local community, charitable funding and volunteer teachers to survive.

The main schoolyard is quite large, with plenty of room for swings, slides, outdoor study and the kichen.
